![]() ![]() As the last days of summer heat lingered in the air, I spent a dedicated weekend focused on getting reacquainted with the city I grew up in. So when the opportunity to visit Augusta on a late-September weekend last month, I decided to take advantage and put on my tourist hat on for a few days. My precious short-lived trips always seem to have my time spent bouncing from parents to grandparents’ homes instead of taking in all the fun things to do in Augusta. While I often make it home for holidays with the family each year, I seldom venture out to explore the city that I grew up in. This especially reigns true when I visit my hometown of Augusta, GA. If you want to have a great meal and not just a pretty plate (that may leave you hungry), you should visit Cadwalladers Cafe.It’s always interesting to re-visit a place after you haven’t been there in years. For us, it was an expensive night out but one which we'll talk about until such time as we make a return visit. We all shared a piece of (complementary) lemon blueberry layer cake which was excellent. My wife and I had enough left over for a second meal the next day. Although the prices here are a bit expensive, the portions are bountiful and you will not leave hungry (like you do in some fine dining establishments). No complaints whatsoever with the food or the service. All were nicely prepared and beautifully served. For entrees my tablemates had the creamy Parmesan risotto and two of the bison ribeyes while I had the chargrilled veal chop. All were excellent but the duck wings really stood out. We started the meal with cocktails and three (3) shared appetizers (charcuterie board, duck wings and a crab cake). Upon arrival we found the owner out front greeting. ![]() It's been quite a while and now they are under new ownership. In years past I ate many a dinner here while on business and was never disappointed.
